Identify attitudes that will help you overcome the crisis.
If you find a discrepancy between the attitudes you hold and those that will best serve you in a crisis, you should examine how the unhelpful attitudes developed, acknowledge the benefits of the healthier attitudes, and gradually shift your attitudes in a more productive direction.
There are three attitude forks in the road. There are many attitudes that will influence how you respond to a crisis. For example, your attitude about discomfort, determination, adaptability, confidence, stress, and many more. And with each attitude, you have the choice to take the good road or the bad road. I have identified three broad-based attitude forks in the road that I deem most fundamental to overcoming a crisis. Taking the good road with these three attitudes will act as the foundation for more specific attitudes you can adopt to help you confront the crisis with a positive and productive orientation.
“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”—Winston Churchill, former British prime minister[1]
